Pullover Prep privacy policy
Effective October 18, 2026.
Last updated: October 18, 2026.
Pullover Prep ("we") operates the Pullover Prep app and pulloverprep.app. This policy explains what the app stores and sends.
What the app is
Pullover Prep shows general information about traffic stops in the United States. It is not a law firm.
Information that stays on your phone
The app stores these on the device, and does not upload them to a Pullover Prep server:
- The state you pick, and whether you accepted the opening acknowledgment
- The name and phone number of an emergency contact, if you add one
- Incident notes you write
- A recording file, if you record a stop
- A cached copy of the law text, if a newer content file was downloaded
- Insurance card fields you type: insurer, policy number, named insureds, vehicles (year, make, model, VIN), effective and expiration dates, and agent or claims phone numbers
- Vehicle registration and driver license fields you type
- Photos of those cards, if you take or choose them
Those document fields are stored in the device keychain (expo-secure-store, split into pieces so they fit the keychain limit). Photos are encrypted with AES-GCM and stored as files in the app's private storage. The photo key is also in the keychain. An optional Face ID, fingerprint, or device-passcode lock hides the cards until you unlock that session. A local notification about two weeks before an expiration date does not include the policy number, plate, or license number. The app does not upload any of this.
The browser preview used to review the interface has no keychain. That preview encrypts the same fields and then keeps the key and the ciphertext in browser storage, and the documents screen says so. A phone build uses the keychain.
Deleting the app deletes this local data. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Location
If you tap "Use my location," the app asks the operating system for your location once, to match a state. It does not track you in the background.
If you send an emergency alert, the text can include a map link built from that location. Your phone's messaging app sends the text to the contact you chose. Pullover Prep does not receive the message.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple or Google. RevenueCat receives the store receipt and an anonymous app user id so the app can tell which plan is active. Pullover Prep does not see your card number. RevenueCat's own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Analytics
Anonymous usage is off until you turn it on in Settings. If you turn it on, and Pullover Prep has configured an endpoint, the app can send:
- screen name
- that the paywall was shown, and which feature asked for it
- trial started, purchase, and restore, including the product id and plan name
- the state code you selected
- that a recording or an alert or an export happened, and whether a map link was included
Those events are not supposed to include your name, phone number, the text of a recording, precise coordinates, or anything saved under My Documents (insurer, policy number, VIN, license number, plate, or a photo). Do not add those fields later without changing this policy.
If you leave the toggle off, events are not sent. Pullover Prep does not sell personal information.
Content downloads
If a content URL is configured, the app downloads a JSON file of law text. That request does not include your name or contact.
Feedback
If you write a note in the app, it stays on the phone. It is emailed only if you tap Email and Pullover Prep has configured a support address. The rating button opens the store review page after publication. That prompt is not shown during a stop. Do not include a policy number or license number.
Children
Pullover Prep is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
